Russell Grainger

Introducing Russell, the guiding light at Mt Wellington Community Church since 1996. Under his leadership, the church underwent a transformative journey, re-planting Sylvia Park Chapel and igniting a community-wide passion to make a difference. With an unwavering focus on outreach and the lost, the church thrives as a hub of positive impact. It operates a community trust with members involved in local schools, a free meals drop-in center, and evangelistic programs that resonate far beyond its walls.

Russell's connection with Reach Beyond, previously known as HCJB, runs deep. Raised by enthusiastic HCJB supporters, missionaries were regular guests in their Taupo home. An electrician turned pastor, he lent his skills to constructing studios in Italy with Reach Beyond when he was just 21.

Back in New Zealand, his influence expanded. Russell joined the NZ Board, contributing at a governance level, and led short-term missions to Ecuador.

In 2017, answering Reach Beyond's call and in conjunction with Mt Wellington Community Church, he became Reach Beyond's Executive Director. His contributions shattered barriers in the New Zealand mission, leading to the creation and publication of SuperBible in English, Māori, and Bi-Lingual editions. In parallel, he played a pivotal role in projects like Sheepstations and utility poles in Ghana, leaving a profound impact.

Married to Jillian, a gifted music teacher and director, the couple shares four adult children.

Russell's dedication, spanning from local endeavors to global missions, stands as an inspiration to all.
